In 2007, The Vietnam-Russian Tropical Center (VRTC) released a report about dog breeds in Northern provinces of Vietnam : Hà Nội, Tuyên Quang, Hà Giang, Lào Cai, Yên Bái, Hà Tây, Sơn La, Lai Châu, Điện Biên, Cao Bằng, Bắc Cạn, Lạng Sơn, Thái Nguyên, Bắc Giang
