BSGV.
Dear Dr. Bau,
maybe you remember me, you have been to my house several times, for my 2 pampered "indoor" cats in Nghi Tam village (one is white, one is black-white).
My 2 cats are doing fine, but I have a different problem: since about 2 weeks, there is a young wild cat who comes to my garden and miouws very sadly and looks very hungry, so I have fed him a little. I do not know though if this is right, because I do not want to make this cat dependent on me. He should go on hunting his own food. On the other hand I feel very sorry for this little guy. He is spending hours in my garden, waiting to be fed, and is sitting in front of my door. I cannot let him in though, he is far too wild. He already had a big fight with one of my cats in the garden. I cannot touch him at all, he is hissing and running away every time I come too close.
He is as well un-neutered and peeing whereever he likes, so to get him in the house is no option right now.
Could you give me some advice on how to treat this little guy in the best way? Is it okay to go on feeding him or would you suggest to stop it in order to make him search for his own food?
I would be very grateful if you could help me out here, I want to do the best for the little tomcat.
Thank you very much in advance!
Best regards, Christa
Dear Christa,
The wild cat is so smart and lucky that he has been with you and taken care by youself. If not he might be caught for some slaughterhousing ( For people's food ). Try to feed him( but only outside ) and keep yours indoor.
One thing to be careful is that the tomcat may not be safe for Rabies. Don't touch him.
Let me know some more about this story. You can call me for direct advice in case of urgent.
Thanks and best regards,
Dr. Bau.
